I don't. I gave up trying to catch up on Facebook.

I don't. If anyone really expects me to know something I expect them to contact me. Does not always work out that way but whatever.

I used to look at LJ multiple times per day, but I've ceased to care much about it. I still poke my head in once or twice per week, but I'm motivated by guilt or boredom rather than desire.

Recently I missed an important Facebook update from a dear friend, prompting me to clean up my FB news stream. Even post cleanup, the volume is a bit much for me. I used to ignore FB almost entirely, but now that I work for a Facebook-centric company, I try to at least peek every day.

My relationship with Twitter is different in a few ways. First, and for whatever reason, I pay a fair amount of attention to Twitter traffic. I usually have a Twitter client open on whatever computer I am using. When I am out and about, I'll peek at Twitter from my iPhone now and again. Second, I've spent time tweaking my Twitter experience to help me see the Tweets I care about most. Finally, unlike LJ (and perhaps Facebook), Twitter traffic is *intended* to be ephemeral. Rather than treating Twitter like a todo list which must be meticulously attended, I try to view Twitter as a stream of potentially interesting giblets into which I occasionally dip my toes. I do not expect to take it all in; I simply observe when the fancy strikes.
